Ahead of the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Auckland's iconic Eden Park underwent a major facelift, including the extensive landscaping of its surrounding gardens. The landscaping project, designed by the team at Jasmax and installed by National Habitats, aimed to rejuvenate the park’s green spaces in time for the international event.
Living Earth played a crucial role in the transformation by supplying nearly 2,200 cubic metres of growing media from their composting plant at Puketutu Island. This high-quality media, enriched with Living Earth’s BioGro-certified Organic Compost, was used to create the ideal conditions for the new garden beds.
Fast forward five years, and Eden Park’s gardens now showcase a flourishing array of native New Zealand plants, including the iconic Nikau palm. Thanks to Living Earth’s nutrient-rich, weed-free compost, the gardens thrive with enhanced moisture retention and improved soil structure.
Living Earth’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in the use of organic garden waste to create the compost, helping Auckland progress towards its zero waste goal by 2040. Landscapers and gardeners throughout Auckland prize this compost for its ability to condition the soil, making it a top choice for high-profile projects like Eden Park.
